With ATTO, one can test the sequential operation speeds with various block sizes and volume lengths. In this test we used the full range of block sizes, from 0.5 KB to 8192, a total length of 2 gigabytes and queue depth of 4.

Samsung 840 EVO is a stable performer in standard mode, beating all the other drives in both tests. Samsung's older 830 series drive is the closest on read speeds and the Intel 520 drive handles the writing almost as well as the 840 EVO. With the RAPID mode enabled, the write speed test gets interesting. We are seeing transfer speeds reaching 750 MB/s.

From here we can clearly see how the SATA2 connection is slowing down the Corsair's drive!
